During fifth grade, we were studying the human body. Our study of muscles lead me to create a robotic joint. At the bottom right of this page is a video of myself demonstrating the joints of the finger that I built in fifth grade. I created the finger out of paper, strings and rubber bands. I created it to mimic the actions of a real human joint.

This project lead me to draw a robotic hand later in 7th grade. I refered back to what we learned in 5th grade and applied it to my drawing. I wanted to design the hand so that if you were to examine it, it would seeming to be able to function. I took a lot of my inspiration from the film Iron Man. When focusing on all the small features in the mechanics in the film, I was fascinated in the creativity involved in creating such complex designs.

I attempted to replicate what I saw in the film by drawing this hand. Thinking back to the paper finger that I created, I was able to figure out a way for the entire hand to seemingly work. I hope to return to this project in the future and take it to another level. Perhaps draw an entire arm or even the entire human body.
