Every Halloween I have a personal-tradition to build my own halloween costume out of scratch. It started in fourth grade where I wanted to be a TV set, and built a tv out of a giant cardboard box. In 6th grade, I wanted to create something that was more familiar and fun the other students at my school. During that time, 'Rage Comics' were intensly popular. 'Rage Comics' are simple comics posted on the internet based on real life experiences depicted with different goofy characters. Each character is used to represent different emotions or reactions. One of my favorite characters is Me Gusta because it's features were, quite simply, hilarious, but to create a costume out of that caracter would be difficult.
My first idea concept was to paper mache a sphere head, then draw out the Me Gusta face on the sphere. I searched through some of my left over parts from my previous projects, and found an old mask. I started of by crumpling newspaper and taping them on the mask to create the basic spherical structure. I added several layers of newspaper and glue. After letting it's surface toughen, I painted it with a few layers of white paint. With a pen, I drew the Me Gusta face on it. I ended up not creating an enitre sphere, but instead making it into a simple mask. Also, as for the rest of the body, I needed some class so I wore a suit.
As a result, that Halloween ended up as one of the most rewarding moments of my life. In case you have not noticed yet, there is a hidden page in the site. Hint of location: Frankie Dunn's alias
